In conjunction with the African Studies Centre at Oxford University, UK, the Winihin Jemide Series created a research grant that is offered to two postgraduate students each academic year. The students are expected to conduct research on gender equity and politics in Africa.
The initial focus of the research is based on Africa simply because there is a dearth of statistical information on gender gaps and trends in Africa. Beyond this, Africa is the emerging Continent and in many regards, the focus of the second quarter of this millennium.
