The WJS Tea Party is designed to connect with youth on a unique platform through conversations around the topic,Beyond 9-5. The event is aimed at teaching the attendees how to work towards the most productive and innovative version of themselves, whether as an entrepreneur or as an employee. They will also learn the “science” behind creating, maintaining and expanding a business.
The event comprised of 3 segments, with guest speakers leading each segment. The youth attending the event fit into one of the following categories;
(1) Those currently working a 9-5, but would like to learn how to be more efficient and effective (2) and youth who may or may not have a 9-5, but would like to embark on an entrepreneurial venture.
The Most Productive Version of You
Speaker- Ms Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Anthony
Head, Campaigns and Clients Services TRACE Nigeria
This segment addressed youth on ways to maximize their potential and work towards the highest level of productivity possible. It offered insight on learning to lead a fulfilled life within the workplace and how to manage the expectations of supervisors and colleagues.
Based on Betty’s great achievements as Head, Campaign & Client Services of one of the most prominent companies in the entertainment industry, she was in a position to inspire youth and proffer tips that will encourage them to be productive and diligent no matter the organization they are attached to.
Young Entrepreneurs and Expansion
Speaker- Tolu Eros
Founder & Executive Chef Cookie Jar
This segment provided youth with practical tips on identifying their passion and selecting appropriate business ventures. Chef Eros shared his specific experiences—challenges and hurdles while starting his business and the ways in which they were overcome.
Based on his great achievements as an entrepreneur in Lagos and hands-on approach to management, this discussion not only inspired the youth in the audience, but also gave him the chance to proffer guidance that would be valuable to aspiring entrepreneurs and young business owners.
The Heart of the Matter
Speaker- Mrs Winihin Jemide
CEO & Founder Winihin Jemide Series
This segment provided a safe-haven for youth to discuss some of the barriers to career advancement that they have encountered, whether personally or professionally. Mrs Winihin Jemide shared some of her experiences as a mother, foremost activist on research on women in Africa and CEO of the Winhin Jemide Series.
